The Electricity and Water Regulatory Commission on Monday 15th March, 2021 launched its regional office in the city of Bo. Speaking at the occasion, the Director General of the Commission Mr. Emmanuel Mannah in his opening remarks stated that in line with the Commission’s strategic direction for 2021 and ensuing years, the launch of the Bo regional office is the first of many other commissioning of regional offices across the country. He went on to express appreciation to the Mayor and Chief Administrator for providing adequate office space to the Commission. He added that regulatory work is a process and therefore series of engagement will be conducted to create awareness about the works of the Commission. The Chief Administrator of the Bo City Council Mrs. Veronica Fortune stated that the Council was very much pleased to host the Commission and support the institution in the performance of its regulatory role. She went further to state she was very much happy about the launch of the Commission’s Bo office as according to her, there is a high proliferation of ill-suited packaged drinking water being sold to consumers in the district and that this has seen an increase in the number of citizens affected by water borne diseases. She went further urged the Commission’s Bo staff to work hard to ensure that this becomes a thing of the past.

The occasion was climaxed by the official commissioning of the regional office by the Chairman of the Parliamentary Oversight Committee on Energy Hon. Keikura Vandi who reiterated his support for the work of the Commission as according to him, the Director General Emmanuel Mannah has shown exemplary leadership since he took over the Commission.

Also present at the Commission were a cross section of EWRC Commissioners and Management staff together with invitees from the Packaged Water Association in Bo.
