FACTORY PRICE FOR A BUNDLE OF SACHET WATER REMAINS AT LE 3,500
At a meeting held today 20th January, 2021 at the Commission with the executive members from the Salone Pure Water Packeters and Bottling Organisation (SPWPBO) and key government representatives from the (Ministry of Trade, Ministry of Finance) with regards to issues surrounding increase in the price of sachet water; it was agreed that the price for a bundle of Sachet Water remains at Le 3,500.00.
During the meeting, one of the key concerns raised for the sudden increase in price was scarcity of raw materials such as outers and plastic rolls etc as a cost driver that has led to increase in the price of input materials. On that note, representatives from the Ministries of Finance and Trade will work with manufacturers and importers to ensure availability of inputs and stability in material prices for water production. The Director General of EWRC, Emmanuel Mannah however caution the union members that, it is not the responsibility of the Water Union to determine the wholesale price but that of the EWRC.
The meeting ended with an agreement that sales of sachet water will continue to be sold at Le: 3,500 per bundle. The inspection team, the Commission together with interest group like the Consumer Protection Agency shall monitor producers in maintaining the price stability.
The public will be informed about its decision on sachet water price shortly.
