However, it is against this backdrop that the newly appointed Director General of the Commission, Tamba Kellie has called on stakeholders to harmonize the overall certification and licensing manual of the package water industry.

He revealed that SLSB is working on a mark of conformity which would be branded on package products, which will ensure that they’ve complied with both regional and international standards.

In his presentation, the Assistant Chief Inspector of Factories, Ministry of Labour and Social Security, Chiblee Kamara explained that in order to ensure the effective execution of the Ministry’s mandate there is a need to formulate an Occupational Health Safety Policy Act, training of factory inspectors and also procurement of monitoring equipment.
Representatives of the water sachet companies explained that progress has been made so far even though much is yet to be done.
He said before “some of these sachet water producers use to produce water in their rooms, now they’ve moved to the pallor.”
